Meridian OHM Optics
Match Meridians to your tank
OHM optics change the shape of the Meridian's beam, which varies how wide the light spreads and how deep it drives coral growth. Each optic is a single panel covering one full 24-LED matrix. Three spreads are available, and you can mix them within a single fixture.
The three optics
Every Meridian ships with OHM Balance optics as a default.
45°
OHM Focus
Tightest beam · up to 48 in / 120 cm depthConcentrates output into a smaller footprint and carries usable light further down. For deep tanks with corals on the sandbed, or lights mounted higher above the aquarium.
90°
OHM Balance
Standard · up to 36 in / 90 cm depthAn even, well blended spread that covers the majority of reef tanks.
110°
OHM Encompass
Widest beam · up to 24 in / 60 cm depthPushes light further front to back and softens shadowing between colonies. Suits wider or shallower tanks, and setups with lower light mounting height.
Optics for every reef. All three optics grow SPS. What changes is how far down the light reaches, so match the optics to your tank's depth and your lights mounting height.
How many your fixture takes
One optic covers one LED matrix, and each step up in fixture size adds another.

Mix optics in one fixture
Because each optic covers its own matrix, you can run different spreads across a single light. On a Meridian 35 with a tall rock structure in the middle, Balance or Encompass over the center spreads light across the aquascape, while Focus on the two outer matrices reaches deeper into the sandbed.
Careful with OHM Focus over shallow areas. It concentrates output, so above raised rockwork it produces very high PAR. Dial back intensity and acclimate corals gradually.
Swapping them
All you need is a number 2 cross-head screwdriver and 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of your light. Hand tools only, since a power driver can strip the threads in the aluminum heat sink. Opening the light to change optics does not void your warranty, though damage caused along the way is not covered. The guide walks you through avoiding it.
